Energy-Efficient Ghosts of Holiday Past

We may have gone overboard with the references to Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” for this challenge, but at its core, we are asking you two to do two things: load forecast and try out the new Real Time Integration Platform (RTDIP). Load forecasting is still a complex problem, and we need you to find new methods for making predictions more reliable. The RTDIP is an open-source package that allows different devices, data sources, and tools to come together to help understand how energy (or anything for that matter) changes in real-time. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Reflection Connection

The Reflection Connect is now live as one of our more experimental challenges this year. One-shot models have a great value proposition, but where’s the best place to deploy them compared to other classification algorithms? For this challenge, we want you to experiment with a low label count to test these models’ limits.

Unbreak My Seismic

Welcome to Unbreak My Seismic! The goal of this challenge is to solve jigsaw puzzles using machine learning. The trick, however, is that the images are complex, not an image of kittens taking a nap. You’ll need your wits about you to answer to find a flexible solver for this challenge.

Parallel Perspectives

Welcome to our upcoming Parallel Perspectives challenge! We hope you find this challenge a fun brain teaser and a nice warm up for the other challenges in the Encoding Reality series.

Future in Charges

Welcome to the Future in Charges Challenge! With this challenge, we are trying something new and ambitious, asking participants to investigate 3D partial differential equations. We encourage the participants to explore unconventional methods in addition to (or instead of) traditional numerical PDE solvers.

Find a Legend

Welcome to the Find a Legend Challenge! This is the third in our series of challenges around getting the most out of legacy crossplots. Please ask, share, and conjecture on this discussion board about how to tackle this problem. Best of luck to you!

Locate Plot Markers

Welcome to the last of our series on extracting data from old crossplots. This is the most challenging of the four. We ask you to pull out the axes locations of all the markers on the plot and identify their label feature from the legend. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing what you all build.
